Tania Wursig is a Sydney and Tahiti based artist with a career spanning more than 3 decades. Primarily a figurative and portrait artist, Wursig's work can be best described as a celebration of life, beauty and culture. Tania sells both her original works and fine art prints through her studio or website - taniawursig.com. She also welcomes commissions upon request. PASSION AND PARADISE In 2011, Tania was offered a fully sponsored, 3 month artist’s residency on the French Polynesian Island of Tahiti. She has returned annually ever since to explore the islands, paint and gather inspiration, conduct international painting workshops and art classes for locals, and is represented by the prominent Galerie Winkler, in Pape'ete, where she exhibits each year. Undoubtedly Tania’s work has been reshaped by her exposure to the Polynesian people and culture, changing the course of her inspiration and career for the past decade. Working with cultural centres and various Polynesian communities both in Tahiti and Australia as well as Tahiti Tourism, she has been referred to as a cultural ambassador to the islands of Tahiti. “Living with and experiencing the Tahitians way of life has opened my eyes and my heart to the importance of 'earth connection’ and connection to place and culture. This has become an important expression in my work and I hope this can be felt by the viewer” A graduate of Sydney College of the Arts, majoring in fashion and textile design, this artist combines her distinctive compositions with the textural possibilities of painting on various collaged surfaces ranging from traditional Tahitian textiles, coconut husk to vintage postcards. These ‘grounds’ add narrative to her paintings connecting the subjects with culture and place. Wursig's dynamic career as a professional painter has taken her all over the world, including residencies in Paris, Barcelona, the International Artists’ Symposium in Budapest, and an annual residency in Tahiti which she now, proudly, refers to as her second home. Exhibiting regularly to continuing success both in Australia and Tahiti her her paintings and fine art prints are held in private collections world-wide including France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, U.K. USA, Hawaii and Tahiti. Public collections include; Cellar de Can Ginestar in Barcelona, the M.O.M Gallery in Budapest, Le Meridien Tahiti, Boutique Hinano, Tahiti and Le Taha’a Resort, Taha’a, Tahiti.
