We work with all people who have experienced vulnerability, including refugees, people seeking asylum and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, to build capacity and enable them to overcome inequality.

The Multicultural Foster Care (MFC) Program meets the unique needs of children and young people from the Maori and Pasifika Community in out of home care. The MFC program emphasises on maintaining the bonds of ethnic backgrounds, religions and languages when providing a safe and stable foster home for children.
SSI welcome all families of Maori and Pasifika communities who have capacity to consider opening your home and share your cultural connections with children and young people of similar backgrounds.

Where ever possible the intention is to get children back living safely with their birth families. Foster care is required when there is no extended family members or other suitable people to provide care.
No, foster care is the temporary care of children and young people when they cannot live safely at their birth family home. The time a child spends with a foster care family varies significantly on their unique situation.
SSI Multicultural Foster Care Program works in close collaboration with the foster family to ensure they have the support they need.
- They will have access to professional case worker. SSI have pasifika case worker.
- Regular home visits
- 24hour on call crisis support
- Government fortnightly financial allowance

- Initial mandatory training and ongoing training
- First Aid - CPR training
Maori, Pasifika children and young people are exposed to environments and trauma that no child should endure. Fostering is an opportunity to support a child from your own community maintain their cultural connection and be a hope holder for them.
